Why a subscription makes sense here
Subscription pricing only works when the underlying cost is stable. For most AI products, cost isn't stable — every call to a model costs something, and usage varies wildly. That's why they pass the variance to you.
Eigen Mesh's cost structure is different in two ways:
- Most of the work is batch, not real-time. The enrichment and overnight consolidation happen in the background, on a schedule, with efficient models. The expensive part isn't the per-question call — it's the steady hum of keeping your memory organized.
- We can plan capacity against average usage, not peak. A flat subscription lets us size the system for the typical user, not the worst case. That efficiency is what makes €3.99 sustainable.
You pay for the memory. We handle the math.
What you're actually paying for
The €3.99 isn't a fee for "AI access." It's the cost of running your memory pipeline:
- Capture — the inbox that accepts anything you drop.
- Background enrichment — the cleanup and connection work that happens after you capture.

Fair question. Eigen Mesh is open source under Apache 2.0, and the whole thing is self-hostable. If you'd rather run it on your own hardware, keep your data entirely on your own machines, and never send us a cent — you can. The managed version exists for people who'd rather not think about servers.
